Longtime Seattle party supply store readies for another move

A longtime Seattle family-owned business is moving again.

Champion Party Supply is heading to Georgetown next month, after nine years on Elliott Avenue West in Interbay. In an announcement, third-generation owner Victoria Champion said the move follows a spike in rent following the expiration of its lease.

“The city is changing and we’re ready and excited to change with it,” Champion said. “We’ve all seen a lot of local Seattle business go under and we’re committed to being the exception despite this hurdle."

Robert Champion founded the company in 1936 as a sign-making and retail display business at Pike Place Market. Per the release, it's the nation's second-oldest party supply store. Today, Champion carries party supplies, costumes, accessories, wigs, makeup, rentals, balloons and novelty items.
