New SurveyUSA WA Poll corroborates NPI's research finding Bob Ferguson and Maria Cantwell on a winning trajectory

Fresh statewide public opinion research commissioned by The Seattle Times, KING5, University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public and conducted by reliable pollster SurveyUSA suggests that Democrats Bob Ferguson and Maria Cantwell are in excellent shape heading into the 2024 August Top Two and November general elections, with healthy leads over their expected Republican rivals Dave Reichert and Raul Garcia.

The new findings, published today and accompanied by articles from reporters Claire Withycombe and Nicholas Deshais (veteran political reporter Jim Brunner is in Wisconsin covering the Republican National Convention) show that momentum for the Democratic ticket is growing, and corroborate what we have previously found in our own polling.

In the gubernatorial race, Ferguson has a nine point advantage over Reichert, Democratic State Senator Mark Mullet, and ultra MAGA Republican Semi Bird. That’s his largest lead in any credible four-way gubernatorial polling so far this cycle. Our last survey, which fielded in May, had Ferguson up seven points. (Since then, Ferguson has gone up on the airwaves with advertising, and that may be helping his performance.)
