Benton County challenges 281 ballots in Primary Election

BENTON CO., Wash. - The Benton County Auditor's Office reported Tuesday it has challenged 281 ballots in the Primary Election.

According to Auditor Brenda Chilton, the challenged ballots are usually situations where the voter failed to sign the Voter's Declaration on the return envelope or the signature did not match their signature on file.

Chilton said voters will have a chance to still have their ballot count. The Auditor's Office will notify voters whose ballots are challenged by phone, text message and mail to give them a chance to fix any problems.

If a voter does not respond to this communication, Chilton said the ballot will be forwarded to the Canvassing Board to make a final decision.
