Still tied in Southwest Washington: NPI's Oct. 2024 poll of WA-03 finds Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Joe Kent dead even
With a little less than a month left to go until Election Day, the high-stakes contest for Congress in Washingtons 3rd Congressional District remains the textbook definition of a tossup, with Democratic incumbent Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican challenger Joe Kent each four points away from fifty percent in our latest poll.
46% of 612 respondents surveyed last Wednesday and Thursday for the Northwest Progressive Institute by Public Policy Polling said theyd vote for Gluesenkamp Perez to continue representing the district if the election were being held today, while another 46% said theyd vote for Kent. The remaining 8% said they were not sure.
The results are little changed from our June 2024 survey of the district, which fielded before Bidens difficult debate performance and exit from the race and the assassination attempts on Trump, indicating that the recent unprecedented developments in the presidential race havent altered the dynamics downballot at least not in WA-03.
Glusenkamp Perez shocked Republicans and national pundits when she flipped the 3rd two years ago with a scrappy, unconventional campaign that appealed to biconceptual voters (voters who use a significant mixture of progressive and conservative values in different areas of their political thinking). Gluesenkamp Perez prevailed over her ultra MAGA Republican rival Joe Kent by just 2,629 votes out of 319,759 cast.
