UW unveils plans to expand lab for battery research

The University of Washington's Clean Energy Institute has unveiled plans to expand its Washington Clean Energy Testbeds facility just west of University Village.

The open-access lab is a place where academics and industry researchers can work on improving battery technology to become greener, more reliable and more scalable to industry needs.

Gov. Jay Inslee spoke at the Oct. 11 unveiling event.

“I said we’re hitting on all cylinders, but we’re not using cylinders anymore,” Inslee told a crowd of three dozen students, researchers and press.
