Allies of Sal Mungia urge Washingtonians to cast an informed vote for State Supreme Court, Position #2
A critically important downballot judicial race that had been flying below many activists and voters radars is finally getting long-overdue attention now that NPI has polled the race and shared the results as part of our research in the public interest work.
The contest, for State Supreme Court Position #2, pits Dave Larson, a Republican-backed municipal court judge from Federal Way, against Sal Mungia, a Democratic-backed attorney, for the seat being vacated by Justice Susan Owens.
Owens is a longtime incumbent who is retiring after having served with distinction for multiple terms on the high court. NPIs October 2024 electoral survey found that Larson entered the three-week voting period with a four point lead over Mungia (14% to 10%), while the vast majority of voters (76%) had not yet chosen a candidate to vote for.
Bonnevilles MyNorthwest mentioned the finding shortly after its release as part of its coverage of the showdown between Mungia and Larson.
