Bell Canada to acquire Kirkland's Ziply Fiber for $3.6 billion

The Kirkland-based fiber internet services provider Ziply Fiber agreed to be acquired by the Canadian telecommunications company Bell Canada, a subsidiary of BCE Inc. (NYSE: BCE), in a $3.6 billion deal, the company announced Monday.

Ziply Fiber CEO Harold Zeitz said that the deal has been in the works since August and that the company will be retaining its 1,600 staff members, leadership, brand and offices in Kirkland and Everrett.

The acquisition, according to a news release, will make Bell Canada the third-largest fiber internet services provider in North America with 9 million fiber locations.

“They fell in love with what Ziply Fiber represents, what we do and how fast we’re growing,” Zeitz told the Business Journal. “And then chose to acquire the 100% of outstanding shares of the company from our private equity firm.”
