Boeing wins order from discount carrier for up to 200 Max jets

The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) landed an order from Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines for up to 200 737 Max 10 aircraft, the companies announced Thursday.

It's the single largest order of the year for the embattled aerospace giant, which resumed commercial aircraft production at its Renton and Everett plants earlier this month following a seven-week machinists strike.

The airline placed a firm order for 100 of the Renton-made jets, with options for an additional 100.

"We have been a proud partner of Pegasus Airlines since their inception and we are excited to welcome them as the newest 737 Max customer," Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope said in a news release. "We appreciate their trust in the Boeing team and we look forward to delivering on the 737-10 and its promise of greater efficiency, versatility and reliability."
