Kayakers allegedly looted a flooded area Saturday, deputies say

EVERETT — Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of alleged looters on kayaks in a flooded area Saturday in south Snohomish County.

Around 11 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to reports of individuals launching boats and kayaks in a closed-off area near Marsh Road and Lowell Larimer Road, according to a sheriff’s office press release. While deputies contacted several individuals in the area, they were unable to locate any looting victims, the release said.

The same day, a man who owned a farm located in the 7700 block of Marsh Road and his adult son went to check on their property after it was affected by recent historic flooding, said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe in an email. They found that items had been stolen and their property was vandalized, the release said.

While checking their property, they heard voices and came across the kayakers, O’Keefe said. They were able to recover their stolen property.
