Related: About this forumThe Friday night storm was a heller, here in Kanawha county.
Trees down everywhere, power off for a week in parts of the state, food and fuel in short supply due to power outages. Another 100+ degree day expected today. Temp. yesterday was 106 outside my house. The storm that went through here Friday stripped the leaves and limbs off of trees and tore down my neighbor's tractor shed. Large maple limbs on my other neighbor's roof, roads blocked, hotels and motels packed or without utilities. River fest and fireworks called off. No free Karaoke, funnel cakes or dunking booth. Nowhere to go, no fun to stay! Beer warm and almost all gone!!!!
Other than that things are about normal in the area!

(1,843 posts)hit on the head. I don't see any tornadoes, hurricanes, blazes, or earthquakes in Iraq of late. Maybe we could rethink our approach to things.... maybe it's all in my head and means little or nothing.

(37,726 posts)Maybe, but...Whatever we did, or didn't do, we got paid back Friday! I hope the Great Spirit is at peace now.
Maybe it was because I was born on Friday 13th? I might need to reprogram my medicine bag?

(37,726 posts)Looks like there will be plenty of firewood. I watched the storm go through here from a "safe" location. Heck of a show. Mother nature was on a Friday night rampage. Better take plenty of water breaks in the shade out there today.

(28,369 posts)Power went out Friday, back on Tuesday. Telephone land line is still out. We don't get wireless here. Think I'll drag out that Magic Jack I never got around to hooking up. Maybe not. I kinda like it when the phone's out.
Friday night we cut a big sycamore out of the main road but I haven't started on my yard yet. It looks like a war zone.
I think the easiest thing to do is apply for a wildlife habitat designation.

(37,726 posts)And then a dust bowl. You don't need to go after your firewood, your firewood will come after you!(act of Gawd)
Sounds I'm mowing through a rock pile when I mow, but if I get a good run at my pile of tree limbs in my yard with my old riding mower, I can run all the way through the limbs before she bogs down. A few more weeks those limbs will be sawdust! I started writing a love song about it called, 'I chased my girlfriend around the yard and finally kissed her between the limbs'
