House Republicans resist Democrats' calls to debate in WV

Her opponent wants one and political groups are trying to plan one, but Delegate Carol Miller hasn’t responded to multiple invitations to a congressional debate.

Miller, a Republican member of the state House of Delegates from Cabell County, hasn’t responded to several groups trying to put together a congressional debate for the open seat in West Virginia’s 3rd District.

She and the two incumbent Republicans running for seats in the House of Representatives in the state have drawn ire from their Democratic challengers for failing to agree to any sort of public dialogue.

In Miller’s race against state Sen. Richard Ojeda, D-Logan, the Student Government Association at Marshall University, the Simon Perry Center for Constitutional Democracy at Marshall and the League of Women Voters have been working together to sponsor a debate, moderated by longtime West Virginia Public Broadcasting journalist Beth Vorhees, who retired last year.
