Instead of giving a massive tax cut to Wall St billionaires, they could have funded infrastructure improvements, broadband cable and satellite internet in rural areas, wind and solar energy companies, land reclamation from mining tailings, reforestation and soil erosion reclamation, education and retraining. and on and on and on nd on.

... they are not going back because:

Gas is cheaper
Gas is cleaner
Gas is much easier to use

And the miners, their families, Trump, and politicians from both sides all know this too but
to keep people fired up they have to keep repeating the lies.

BTW natural gas is also a producer of greenhouse gases and we need to get off that
crap ASAP and develop more green and renewable energy sources too.

So twenty days before Election, the Coal Oligarchs drop the Hammer on their Minions. This is one of the Poorest Regions in the US. Let's watch for actions and reactions coming in the next two weeks from this area. My guess is,the one's that can get out are packing up and leaving as we speak.

Seven Coal Companies filed for Bankruptcy in the last two months and the Media has just ignored this story.

will depart soon after November 6th election -- they must stay in place to cast their votes for the GOP minions of the biggest liar in USA. We will see them on TV coalsplaining why they voted for Trump in '16 and why they still support him today. Orange Fools.

one Industry or Thing that owns or controls a regional economy, then you will truly understand the meaning of Stockholm Syndrome.

Been there and seen it. For the most part, most of the folks living in these areas do not have two nickels to rub together,or they have extended family attachments that they are afraid to break with.

After leaving a similiar type of environment some sixty years ago,and to return this past Summer for a few days, yes there are still those who resemble the a fore mentioned groups still struggling and using the same excuses. Religion and Social pressures are only over come by Education and exposure to the outside world.

and saw that their resources could produce a good future in TX, but if they stayed in OK, they would decline into poverty. Each person affected by this coal mine company should do the same kind of assessment.

it takes intervention by persons from outside the Group. My escape was a Educational Opportunity offered by a High School Principle who lived a few blocks away. And that is what did it for me. As for my Siblings, they refused my offers and the rest will be written in History.
