OSHKOSH - U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin took an unusual stance Friday night at the opening of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin convention.
Baldwin didn't name-check the two Republicans battling to face her in the fall: state Sen. Leah Vukmir of Brookfield and Delafield businessman Kevin Nicholson.
Instead, she lobbed salvos at out-of-state billionaires.
"We can't let them buy our state," she said. "We can't let them take away our voices and put in place a bought-and-paid-for politician."
Baldwin said the stakes in the election are great, as she vowed to preserve health care plans, fight for Wisconsin workers and pass legislation to provide Wisconsin with more resources to battle the opioid crisis.
She also recounted her late mother's struggle with mental illness and addiction to prescription drugs.
"In the weeks since I've shared my story, I've received a deluge of calls, letters and messages from Wisconsinites sharing stories just like mine," she said..........................
