MENASHA, Wis. (WBAY) - Video shows a heart-stopping close call for a bicyclist who fell through a gap in a Menasha bridge--and the people who came to the woman's rescue.

It happened July 4 after the fireworks in Menasha.

Action 2 News just received the video from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

At about 10:30 p.m., the video shows warning gates descend to stop traffic from driving on the Racine Street Bridge. The bridge was rising to the open position to let boat traffic pass.

Besides actually bumping one of the gates, she missed that four foot dropoff. You have to be pretty far gone for that!

The gates were down, the road was clearly up, there were flashing lights. FFS, she ran into one of the arms of the gates.

I feel nothing but contempt for her actions. I hope she got a citation for blowing past the safety gates.

She put other people in danger to rescue her dumb ass.

Who would ever imagine that someone in Wisconsin would get so drunk as to pull such a stupid stunt?
I do not miss the bar scene and heavy boozing of Wisconsin. We do have some drunk drivers here, but not even close to the same scale as Wisconsin does. I have yet to see a drunk driver speeding down the wrong side of the road at in the middle of the morning. And I DID see that, twice, in Wisconsin. I have also not seen a barful of people laughing because someone got shit faced and made a fool of themselves. And that was a common occurrence in Wisconsin. I know not why heavy drinking is considered a recreational sport in Wisconsin, but I really do not miss it.
