Is Foxconn actually building a factory in Racine?

And is it looking like it will really end with 15 thousand jobs?

I ask because, given their history it seems unlikely that they will follow through, but a friend recently moved there and is having trouble finding a house and said the real estate market is really tight in that area due to this.

that the number of jobs will be much lower than the projected numbers. I know the market is tight- we bought a house north of Milwaukee last summer and it was crazy. Every house had multiple offers the day it came on the market. Winter is also a hard time to buy since people don't like moving in the winter here.

I was born and raised in Waukesha (which wasn't always the cesspool of right wingers it is now) and now live in Iowa.

I was really surprised to hear that they are even building anything. I figured they'd take the money and run...

I'll be surprised if they actually come through, but I hope they do have more than a handful of decent jobs.

I just don't think it will really happen.

the number of manufacturing jobs, changing the types of things they will be making here, things like that. I think most people here know it's all a big scam.

Trump’s Foxconn factory deal in Wisconsin is close to falling apart: report

President Donald Trump’s widely touted deal to bring more manufacturing jobs to Wisconsin looks like it’s on the verge of falling apart.

A new Reuters report claims that Foxconn, which has received billions of dollars in incentives to open a plant in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is now reconsidering its original plans to manufacture LCD panels in the United States.

In fact, Foxconn has now said that it “intends to hire mostly engineers and researchers rather than the manufacturing workforce the project originally promised.”

Husband has been at workplaces that had dealings with Foxconn and they never, ever delivered what was contracted or on time. He is pretty sure that they'll do final assembly in Racine so they can put that "Made in USA" sticker on, but with dorms filled with Chinese workers.

Still hoping it will end up with some jobs for people in WI though.
