Related: About this forumTony Evers just issued a state-wide mask order (again).
I wonder how long it will take Wisconsin Republicans to take it to their State Kangaroo Court and have it over-turned along partisan lines (again).

(17,102 posts)Jill Karofsky gets seated on WiSC making the new balance of power 4-3. Since one of the 5 GOP preferred justices voted to preserve Safer at Home, Im sure the hope is that any ruling would go 4-3 in favor of masks. Well see.

(10,392 posts)With WI spiking the Repubs may feel pressure to act sanely.
Our son works in a place that doesn't require shoppers to wear a mask (his boss is radical right wing). Our son has been mocked by some of the others he works with for wearing a mask. He's a very big guy, so the mocking is always done "playfully," by the assholes he works with. This is what he's been hoping for so the issue is settled and not a choice, just like "no shoes, no shirt, no service."
This ordinance is very good news!

(11,869 posts)He notes there is a slight business drop (not unusual as gardens are producing, people start shifting to think school supplies, buying fall stuff, vacations), but he believes some are deliberately not shopping at Metro Mart with their mask "required policy."
He says compliance is very high. Issues are minimal and the biggest now being customers going at each other over the policy.

(2,479 posts)I know there was the safer at home order that got overruled by the supreme court, did that include a mask requirement?
I'm glad Tony is doing this. Expose the anti maskers and all their stupidity.
Greybnk48
(10,392 posts)that did not include a mask mandate.
I'm so happy about this!

(18,967 posts)He asked if my phone was ringing "off the hook" because of the Facemask order...I had not heard of it at that time.
He said he ws probably getting all the calls from Republicans who are furious.
He said it's going to be WW III in Madison because of this..
he's always been an "anti-masker"....
In the meantime...the state numbers came out about an hour ago...over 1,000 new cases, spikes in our county and the two neighboring counties....
....and the Repubs are still pissed?
Maybe they can have a "Louie Gommert" support march in Madtown...or a Herman Caine memorial march against masks.

(17,806 posts)MADISON, Wis. State Sen. Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) is calling on Republican leaders to bring the Legislature back into session to pass a resolution in opposition to Gov. Tony Evers statewide mask mandate.
Evers issued the emergency order Thursday afternoon, which makes masks mandatory when inside most buildings and establishments.
Gov. Evers actions today are nothing more than a political stunt to create a partisan fight with the Legislature, Nass said in a statement. This is not about improving public health. Todays emergency declaration is all about the November election and the weak performance of Democrats in this state.
Wisconsin Sen. Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) calls on @SpeakerVos and @SenFitzgerald to bring the legislature back to block the public health emergency and mask mandate.
