In Dane County executive race, Melissa Agard (D), Dana Pellebon (D) advance

Dane County voters on Tuesday advanced state Sen. Melissa Agard and County Board Supervisor Dana Pellebon to a November runoff election that will determine the next county executive.

The winner of the Nov. 5 election will serve the remainder of former County Executive Joe Parisi’s four-year term ending in April after he stepped down from the role. Another election in the spring will decide the next four-year term.

Out of the four candidates running — including Agard and Pellebon, Dane County Equity and Inclusion Director Wes Sparkman, and Madison City Council Ald. Regina Vidaver — Agard garnered the majority of votes, totaling 57%. Pelebon was second with 17.3%.

Preliminary results show more than 378,000 voters cast ballots in the election with 95% of precincts reporting.
