WI-SD14: Joan Ballweg (R) and Sarah Keyeski (D) face off in Senate District 14

New legislative districts have left voters in parts of east Madison with a big choice to make about who should be their next state senator.

Senate District 14 saw major changes under new legislative maps signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers, a reaction to a Wisconsin Supreme Court decision tossing out the old lines.

The new 14th District includes parts of northeast Madison near Dane County Regional Airport, as well as DeForest and Windsor. The district also includes all of Richland and Sauk counties and parts of Adams, Columbia and Juneau counties.

The election for the sprawling Senate district has become one of the most hotly contested 2024 legislative races in Wisconsin. Incumbent Sen. Joan Ballweg, R-Markesan, is facing off against Democrat Sarah Keyeski, a Lodi mental health counselor.
