Emily Nolan-Plutchak (D) keeps seat as Wood County Branch 3 judge
WISCONSIN RAPIDS − Wood County Branch 3 Circuit Court Judge Emily Nolan-Plutchak will keep her seat another six years after winning the April 7 election.
Nolan-Plutchak, 47, was appointed to the Wood County Branch 3 Circuit Court by Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, after Judge Todd Wolf retired on July 11, 2025. She has conducted hearings, presided over jury trials, ruled on motions and issued decisions. She spent 18 years as a public defender, which gave her a broad spectrum of legal matters, she said.
She represented indigent adult and juveniles in both civil and criminal matters. As a public defender, Nolan-Plutchak handed more than 2,500 cases. She also served as the attorney manager of the Wisconsin Rapids Public Defender's Office. Nolan-Plutchak is proud to be Wood County's first woman judge, she said.
Wisconsin Circuit Court judges serve six-year terms.
