Wyoming GOP votes to stop recognizing Cheney as a Republican

CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Republican Party will no longer recognize Liz Cheney as a member of the GOP in its second formal rebuke for her criticism of former President Donald Trump.

The 31-29 vote Saturday in Buffalo, Wyoming, by the state party central committee followed votes by local GOP officials in about one-third of Wyoming's 23 counties to no longer recognize Cheney as a Republican.

In February, the Wyoming GOP central committee voted overwhelmingly to censure Cheney, Wyoming's lone U.S. representative, for voting to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Cheney has described her vote to impeach Trump as an act of conscience in defense of the Constitution. Trump "incited the mob" and "lit the flame" of that day's events, Cheney said after the attack.

Cheney is no Democrat by contrast.

She is still committed to the principles of limited government, lower federal taxes, stronger state governments, fiscal responsibility, free markets, etc.

The only thing that she shares with Democrats is her distrust of Donald J. Trump to lead both the Republicans and this country forward.

Even with Nixon and Watergate, Republicans hung together.

I like her backbone, she's an elevation over her dad. She has principles. Just hope she stick with it, that Kinzinger stays with her, and that the Jan 6 Committee is a sort of bonding event with all the members. If you can't defend the founding ethos of the country I just don't know what you've got.

a Republican, regardless, what the state Republican Party says.

The same would apply to any political party.

If a person registers with a political party identification, that is the party they belong to

This just demonstrates how batshit crazy the Republican Party is
