The ball will continue to roll for the town of Jackson’s proposed anti-discrimination ordinance for the LGBT community. ... Town staffers are going to research exactly how a law protecting gay and transgender people from housing and job discrimination could work here.

Town councilors asked at a meeting Monday for attorneys to look into that and to present their research by the end of the year.

No elected officials spoke out against the proposal, and some were vocal in their support of bringing a policy to Jackson that is similar to what was approved in the city of Laramie last spring.

“As an Equality State native,” Mayor Sara Flitner said, “I’m excited to support Laramie and to codify that we are a fair-minded and a fair-business community.”
