Sturgis in full swing, motorists should be mindful of bikers
WYOMING The 79th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally begins today through August 11. The 10-day event promises to be one of the biggest ever with hundreds of thousands of riders headed to the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota.
Many of the motorcyclists will be headed through Wyoming on the way to and from. With that in mind, the Wyoming Department of Transportation and the Wyoming Highway Patrol want to remind all motorists to be extra vigilant when driving.
The annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally always means more traffic on Wyomings roads and in the northeast part of the state as attendees head to Sturgis. Motorists should be mindful a good portion of these riders havent been on a motorcycle in a while or maybe ever. Its up to everyone to keep an eye out for them.
Highway Patrols Lt. Kyle McKay added that Hulett is also expected to have a higher-than-normal number of motorcyclists over the next week for the communitys annual Ham N Jam event on Aug. 7.
