Tony Abbott ousted by Malcolm Turnbull

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-34245005

Australia is to have a new prime minister after Tony Abbott was ousted as leader of the centre-right Liberal Party by Malcolm Turnbull.
In the hastily arranged party leadership ballot, Mr Abbott, who had been plagued by poor opinion polls, received 44 votes to Mr Turnbull's 54.
Mr Turnbull said he assumed that parliament would serve its full term, implying no snap general election.
The new leader will be Australia's fourth prime minister since 2013.

The person who should be most worried this morning is, of course, Bill Shorten, the Labor leader with a charisma bypass. A boring man, bereft of bright ideas or even of personality, and the tool of the right-wing of the Labor Party. He will lose to Turnbull at the next election, for sure, so I guess the next leadership challenge should come from the Labor ranks, hopefully well before we go to the polls.

Abbott hasn't yet written his resignation letter, and Turnbull can't be sworn in until he does. Both Rudd and Gillard resigned officially the day they lost leadership.

And if he can hang on until Friday, Abbott stands to collect a $10 million pension; if not, he will get his normal parliamentary pension.

I knew he wouldn't go gracefully, but what a creep.

Of course - 'till friday - he'll collect his $10 million.

But just think, you're looking at that $10 million and you're remembering all the "friends" around you who got their $10, $100, $1,000, million, while you watched, and aided the process along. And seeing that $10 million slip from your fingers. Then you have to go on TV and explain yourself.

But I expect he'll hold on to friday.

I wish someone on the left would stand up and lead. Between China, refugees, and the slow rolling train wreck that is NDIS, we could use some actual governance.

the ALP found a Lower House seat in S.A. for Penny Wong? She's not only an extremely capable and articulate woman, she's liked and respected by the public as that rare being – an honest politician.

But of course, that would probably mean a white male giving up his seat for an Asian female - nope, won't happen.

Australia is to have a new prime minister after Tony Abbott was ousted as leader of the Liberal Party following a hastily arranged drinking competition.

Cabinet minister Malcolm Turnbull is said to have requested the drinking competition following doubts about Mr Abbott’s ability to successfully drink enough beer to remain a credible Australian Prime Minister.

“It became clear to me that I had to act after I saw Tony drink a small glass of sherry instead of several pints of the old amber fluid,” said the new Prime Minister. I thought it was a bloody disgrace to the proud ideals of Australian democracy and so I acted.”

Mr Turnbull becomes the fourth Australian Prime Minister since 2013 after Kevin Rudd ordered a glass of beer instead of a pint and Julia Gillard was outed as a woman.

word is that Abbott went on a bender when he was ousted. It would be typical of his immature attitude.

So far, has not been seen taking his seat (up the back) in the House. Still being paid by taxpayers, but doing nothing to earn it.

Too much of a wimp to move to the backbench gracefully, as both Rudd and Gillard did.

Since Turnbull has been in power all that we get now is a blow by blow from the polls....haven't the media got anything better to do with their time...The only poll that I trust is the one that happens on the day of the election.
Anyway Abbott started of in the BLACK when he became PM ands slowly went down hill after 6 months,so whjat are the pollsters going tpo do when Turnbull goes 'belly up'???????
