Justin Trudeau speaks, Jason Kenney hyperventilates: Mallick

Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau spoke conversationally this week, saying in French of the battle in Ukraine, “President Yanukovych has been made illegitimate. It’s very worrying, especially because Russia lost in hockey, they’ll be in a bad mood. We fear Russia’s involvement in Ukraine.”

How dare he.

Jason Kenney, posing plumply in Frobisher Bay on Twitter on the weekend in one of the most frightening photos I have ever seen of a pasty grown man encased in a fur onesie — worse, he seemed to have grown a moustache for the occasion — accused Trudeau of . . . something.

“So Justin Trudeau, whose favourite regime is ‘the basic dictatorship of China’ thinks the deadly crisis in Ukraine is a laughing matter,” Kenney tweeted, although Trudeau had expressly said that it was not. It isn’t even that Trudeau made a joke that went wrong, it’s that it wasn’t a joke or even a witticism, it was such a general statement that it scarcely qualified as a remark.
