Local saxophonist Richard Underhill runs for mayor

Ask mayoral candidate Richard Underhill what inspired him to run for the city's top job and the words tumble out like a cascade of notes from the acclaimed jazz saxophonist's horn.
"Rob Ford!” The sometime frontman of beloved jazz combos The Shuffle Demons and Astrogroove blurts the name like a discordant note.
“I was so outraged by the reckless cuts that were proposed in his first budget that I deputized (myself) in favour of saving children's breakfast programs, of going ahead with transit city and saving libraries at a budget consultation," Underhill tells me. hmmm. Now I'm conflicted, as a lifelong NDP'er vs an almost-as lifelong fan of the Shuffle Demons. Great things come from that neighborhood.
