(4,188 posts)On Twitter also, everyone is saying how the ban is a terrible idea, but no mention was made of why the ban occurred in the first place.
I am assuming the reason is because poppies are used to make opium and there is an opiate crisis (which is primarily a crisis of dealers adding fentanyl to heroin in order to addict people faster, but not realizing people would overdose and die in such huge numbers).

(106,364 posts)Really? Do they not teach about WWI in history anymore? I just don't know how ANYONE who knows the history of the poppy and its importance in the UK and Canada, in particular, could conflate the two issues.
Not meaning any personal offense as I get that your comment was rhetorical.
