(18,525 posts)I fully expect the NDP will form a government with the Liberals, even if the Conservatives get more seats (they wont get a majority).
My riding is one of two with a Green Party MP, but I feel its time for the NDP to step up and wield their influence in a coalition government.

(123,133 posts)in Canada. That being said I love the NDP and have voted for them many times. I think the coalition talk is right wing US meme because they don't want NDP and greens fliocking to the Liberals to block a conservative win like often happens at the last moment. Just a bit of US rat****ing in a Canadian election. If Conservatives win the most seat but a minority, and if the NDP and liberals together will have a majority, the Conservatives will still be named the Government.

(18,525 posts)Ok, so its not a power sharing coalition, but the liberals hold power at the pleasure of the NDP, who could dissolve the government with a no confidence vote if they chose (strategically unwise, but nevertheless possible).
P.S. winning a plurality does not guarantee control of government

(123,133 posts)government he did a few years ago. They are not consulted. GG asks Trudeau if he wants to form a government when he won the most votes of any party. Trudeau says yes. It is done. He had a minority.
