PM Boris Johnson tests positive for coronavirus

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus, Downing Street has said.

Mr Johnson has mild symptoms and will self-isolate in Downing Street.

"He was tested for coronavirus on the personal advice of England's chief medical officer, Professor Chris Whitty," a statement said.

He will still be in charge of the government's handling of the crisis, the statement added.

important people (OK, I have to admit being PM is important too), like Whitty (who no doubt have been meeting many others), and having some of them less effective will be a problem.

He's been meeting Gove and Raab too. Wonder what Gove's attitude to experts will be when he gets sick,

Which could mean we end up with one of absolute worst Tory MP's in charge if Boris's condition deteriorates.

I know many are not monarchists, but I would hate for her to be infected at age 93.

and hopefully you're not infectious about 10 days before developing symptoms, when the previous one would have been (and that may have been by phone too, for all I know, it's just that they released photos of them talking by phone this week).

Queen Elizabeth and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson were last together 16 days ago when the Conservative leader visited Buckingham Palace for his weekly audience. They have since been conducting their meetings via telephone.

“Her Majesty the Queen remains in good health,” a royal spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE on Friday. “The Queen last saw the PM on the 11th March and is following all the appropriate advice with regards to her welfare.”

I am thinking the Queen is in good health. At age 93, she cannot be too careful.
