(34,189 posts)Then I decided to try hot tea, but the tea served in most restaurants is Lipton or an equal noxious version. I moved up to Bigelow's Earl Gray tea which is lovely with just a hint of bergamot.
Currently, my favorite is Bigelow's Plantation Mint which is black tea with peppermint - very mild and refreshing. I also drink various herbal infusions - mint, peach, and lemon with ginger are my favorites, with an occasional raspberry cup.

(4,280 posts)and can't abide sweet tea at all. For iced tea, I just drink tea, no sugar or lemon.
And having lived in the UK for the better part of a decade, the only hot tea I'll drink is Typhoo or PG Tips. Twinings Irish Breakfast when I can find it.

(10,421 posts)Definitely my standards. Now heating the water in the microwave will pass muster. Once boiling, put in a tea bag (PG Tips preferred, Tetley or Yorkshire Tea will suffice). Let seep for a while. If impatient stir it up with a spoon. Take out the tea bag.
Add milk and sugar (or other sweetener) to ones own taste (me - milk, two sugar). I've heard some people put the milk and sugar and the teabag with cold water and put that in the microwave directly. Still better than that abomination in that video. Of course, teapot and kettle are the way to go, and if you want a WWII flavour to your tea, make one teabag last for six people. My grandmother still takes her tea this way.
