Related: About this forum2024 is likely to be Sherrod Brown's last election because I believe he will retire in 2030.
Sherrod Brown has been in elected office since 1974.
OH State House of Representative from 1975-1983.
OH Secretary of State from 1983-1991
US House of Representative from 1993-2007
US Senator since 2007.
Brown will have to face another tough re-election campaign in 2030. During Browns political career, Brown has lost 1 election, Re-election to a 3rd term for OH Secretary of State in 1990 against Bob Taft III. Republicans will win every other statewide election in OH in 2030 by a high single/low double digit margin.
Sherrod Brown is the OH version as Russ Feingold and Bernie Moreno is the OH version of Ron Johnson and OH is more Republican than WI. Feingold a progressive US Senator lost re-election to a 4th US Senate term to a wealthy conservative tea party MAGA businessman.
Feingolds last US Senate election that he won was in 2004 against Tim Michels by an 11 percent margin. The Brown-D vs Moreno-R election will also be like the Feingold-D vs Michels-R election.
Sherrod Brown does not seek re-election in 2030 and allows Greg Landsman or Emilia Sykes to be the Democratic nomine for Browns US Senate seat.
Emilia Sykes won a R+1 US House District by a 5.4 percent margin.
Greg Landsman won a D+2 US House District by a 5.6 percent margin.
