25 years ago, there was a Republican US House-member from LA-1cd that was the frontrunner for

US Speaker of House. He dropped out of the Speaker and resigned from the US House of Representatives. That was Bob Livingston.
Steve Scalise is following the footstep of Bob Livingston.
