Can someone help me find facts re current status of DRE touch-screen voting?

Approximate percentage of votes that will be cast on DRE's in 2012? Approximate breakdown of the ownership of those machines, by company?

Reason is that I'm writing a response to an e-mail from a wingnut family friend. Most likely, it'll be a waste of time on my part. But hey, I could use an update myself, as my info is a couple of years out-of-date.

Many thanks!

I found the info I needed, which I'll post below. The person to whom I was responding had sent me an e-mail linking to a video produced by James O'Keefe's Project Veritas, suggesting that my state was a hotbed of fraudulent registration and fraudulent voting.

I sent a very friendly and factual reply, explaining the many safeguardes my state has in place to guard against voter fraud. I also explained why, if an election is stolen, it will be stolen through these unverifiable voting machines, and not by massing legions of fraudulent voters at the polls.

Well, my family friend certainly proved himself a gentleman. He wrote a very cordial response, in which he thanked me for the info and promised to send it to the other recipients of his earlier e-mail, after first removing my e-mail address to protect me against any harsh replies.

As a footnote, the best source of information I found on the use and distribution of DRE touch-screen machines was VerifiedVoting.org. They have a really good summary chart near the bottom of their home page, and a Verifier Map feature that you can use to search by state, machine type, vendor, or model.

Of course, Brad Friedman's blog (Bradblog.com) is also a good source of information on the topic.
