Household Hints & Help
Related: About this forumBolt on my $380 office chair broke. Need suggestions.
It popped and almost thew me back-wards! This was the second time this has happened to an office chairs of ours...and that's why we paid so much for this new one 4 or 5 years ago, thinking that a more expensive chair would last longer.
Any idea about repairing it? The bolt broke off in interior mechanism of the back of the chair. I'm afraid to even attempt drilling the remainder of it out but I don't know whom I could possibly take it to to get the thing fixed.
The chair is otherwise in great shape and is the only one I found that doesn't hurt my back.
Thanks!

(18,219 posts)Is you did drill it out, would you be able to find a bolt to replace it?
The first thing that I would do is contact the manufacturer. You say it was supposedly a good quality chair and was expensive, so even if they wouldn't do anything for you after this amount of time, it couldn't hurt to try. They at least should know that this is a problem, because maybe they are one of the few companies that would care. You at least may be able to find out if a replacement bolt is available.
I am not all that handy myself, so I can't help further.

They may very well be willing to help you find a repair facility in your area or to do something about the chair itself.
