I get the message 'explorer not working' when i'm

on the computer. What do I do? I've done a hard reboot. Same message.

Go to Computer and then right-click the C: drive and select Properties. Then under the Tools menu, Under Error Checking, hit the Check Now button. Leave just the first box ticked and hit Start button in that window. It will ask to schedule for next reboot so say Yes/OK. Next time you reboot it will take about 5 minutes to look for file system errors before booting into Windows as usual.

This may not fix anything but it eliminates the possibility that a slightly corrupted system file is causing the problem when accessed at some point while running Explorer.

First, get rid of Norton, which is incredible bloatware, and use antivirus protection which has a smaller footprint. I use Avast, and have had very good success with it.

Second, quit using Internet Explorer as your browser. Chrome or Firefox are lighter, faster and more reliable.

just use another browser. This could be PITA if you've got lots of passwords, bookmarks, or other things stored on there, but other browsers can often dig in there and find them.

Did you say Win 10? Bing is now a bit better than IE and has some good import functions. Other browsers may not be as good.
