Transfering Android game data to a new phone?
This discussion thread was locked by steve2470 (a host of the Computer Help and Support group).
My wife is going to be upgrading her phone from a Galaxy S5 to a Galaxy S7 in the next week or so. She's got a couple of games that she wants to continue to play. Neither phone is rooted and she won't allow me to try rooting them so that option is out the window.
Does anyone know of a method to ensure that the new phone will continue her game progress?
I know she signs in through Facebook and someone told me that you should be able to just continue on as soon as you sign into Facebook on the new device but I wanted to check first.

(21,506 posts)the progress should be saved. I can't guarantee that though. a quick way to check is if it is a game on facebook if she is in the same spot on the phone as she is on facebook through a browser the progress is saved server side not on the phone.

There is a default app called Smart Switch when you got the S7. You can use this app to transfer data from old device to the new one.

(14,400 posts)is the app that the guy at the Verizon store is planning to use.
They told my wife that they'll transfer everything to her new phone when she picks it up.

You can use Android Manager tool which can manage two devices at the same time, inclucing export and import all the contents.

Samsung Transfer tool - one good Phone to Phone Transfer tool . It helps transfer data between phone to phone .With the help of Samsung Transfer tool ,you not only can transfer apps between two mobile phone ,but also move contacts text messages, photos, videos, music from phone to phone .
That's actually what we used and it looks like it worked.

(135,425 posts)Did you end up returning it due to the recall?

(14,400 posts)not the Note 7. She was considering that but luckily didn't go that route.

(135,425 posts)but I was wondering about people like, say, TSA!
I was on an airplane recently and the FA said (this was just before the exploding phones were banned outright) "If you have a Samsung 7 phone, you can't turn it on at all, and please identify yourself to the flight crew" -- I guess they wanted to know where to head in the event of a fire onboard.

(14,400 posts)I haven't actually seen a Note 7 My brother has a Note 5 and it does look a lot like my wife's old S5. The main difference other than the size that I saw is the stylus. If the phone has one (called an S-pen) it's a Note.

What kind of game? For now, most of the games are synced with remote server. When you install it on a new device, the data will be synced automatically once logged in.
If not, then you can transfer the apps easily with phone transfer software.

(1 post)Switching Samsung to Samsung for transfer data , you must be careful to do , the phone data so easy lost after switch ,
if you want to prevent data loss, the Android to Android transfer program that you'd better give it a try ,
At least , the transfer tool can not lead the data to loss from your phone

You can download the game app on your Galaxy S7 again, and log in with the same account. If you need to move game data or app between Android and iOS, you may need a phone transfer tool to help transfer data to new phone.
