What virus protection software do you use? I have Kaspersky, but I expect to be
upgrading to a newer computer soon, and I'm beginning to wonder about Kaspersky.

(6,568 posts)I don't use virus protection, I just maintain smart and safe browsing practices.
Can't remember the last time I've had a virus.

(6,568 posts)I've found that safe and smart browsing is more effective than a resource hogging virus scanner, any day of the week.
I have a thumbdrive with a bootable copy of Windows and a bunch of great malicious software removal tools in the event I DO have a virus.
Never had to use it for myself, but I've rescued a few work computers and friends' computers with it.
I keep nothing of importance on my PC, anyhow. It's mostly for watching movies and streaming media around the house.
My Mac is my main machine, which I keep backed up in triplicate.

(10,252 posts)I use Malwarebytes. It's relatively cheap, and I'm very happy with it.

(6,145 posts)so viruses which try to take control like a ransom ware program can't ever fully do so b/c they can't shut it off. This saved my system once when the antivirus running on top of it failed. I run Avast in addition to Superantispyware.
