ATT rip off
Just found out that the "Plan" I have ends unless I add more money by October 27. I will lose my unused data. I was told that my data would roll over so I assumed the Plan included actual connection. Not so. Best Buy implied that it would continue and did not mention that I had to pay more.
I tried to change my plan to a $25 one (from the initial $75 version) and their site comes up with an error. Seems like they want you to enroll in their Autopay scam. That still works. They also charge $25 just to change Plans and you lose all unused data.
It takes working through a long menu system to reach their Help person.
I've abandoned their crappy deal scam for now.
All this while waiting for Comcast to install a real internet cable which keeps getting delayed. Now its December 12.
Off to Best Buy to give them feedback on their salesperson who completely misled me.
This stuff comes at a really bad time for us with the recent fires here in CA.
Did I mention we had no power for 10 days?

(4,407 posts)I had the cell phone service representative out and out lie to me about the cost of renewing my contract. I spent hours trying to complain and they kept saying it was my fault for not reading the fine print. I finally contacted the BBB and told them I would not consider my case resolved until they played back for me the recording of the phone call I had with the sales representative. Then someone from AT&T finally called me back and refunded some of the money. I agreed to it because it was not worth my time to continue to deal with their labyrinth of horrible customer service. My contract finally expired this month and I'm looking elsewhere.
They have the absolute worse customer service in the world.
Sorry about no power, we lost it for 5 days due to Irma and that was bad enough.

(14,250 posts)I had a tree come through my roof during a storm 2 years ago, and we had to move out of the house for 2 months for repairs. The day it happened I called AT&T and told them what happened and asked to suspend the internet charges (we still needed the 3 cell phones on the contract). The person on the phone agreed without hesitation and told me to call back when I wanted it back on. It never showed up on the bill.
I was happily surprised at how well my encounter with their phone rep went; sorry you aren't having as much luck.

do you have a generator or some other source of power so you can use a few items in your home? I remember being without power for extended times & even charging the phone & 'camp-lights' was such a PITA.
