The new LibreOffice is out and it looks like a winner...
I've still got 5.4.4 installed, but will get this one soon enough. Even on 5.4.4 I find Word compatibility to be excellent but the new stuff is supposed to be even better.

for earlier versions. I always had a couple of versions around just in case I got stuck with one of those beastly .wps files.
Microsoft gave up on conversion tools, but if you have an older file viewer around it might work.
You have my sympathies.

That was some real slick awfulness when folks had to find out the hard way it has zero compatibility with the "normal" Microsoft office programs.
