Windows 10 Sends Your Activity History to Microsoft, Even if You Tell It Not To

Windows 10 collects an “Activity History” of applications you launch on your PC and sends it to Microsoft. Even if you disable or clear this, Microsoft’s Privacy Dashboard still shows an “Activity History” of applications you’ve launched on your PCs.

This problem was recently discussed on Reddit, and it’s pretty easy to confirm. Head to Settings > Privacy > Activity History and disable “Send my activity history to Microsoft.” It was already disabled on our PC, so it made this easy to test.

Windows 10’s aggressive data-collection capabilities may concern users about corporate spying, but enterprises have control that ------__consumer-edition Windows users do not------: Administrators can decide how much information gets sent back to Microsoft.

But enterprises need to think twice before turning off Windows telemetry to increase corporate privacy. That’s because doing so can decrease the effectiveness of Windows 10’s security features.

How to keep Microsoft Windows 10 from spying on you? Ever since Microsoft release Windows 10, a popular movement grew out of the privacy controversy, people are afraid of the many tracking features within Windows 10, thus the birth of many “anti-spying” apps have sprung up. They promise to keep Windows 10 from tracking you–but often, they can cause more problems than they solve. I do not recommend you using these tools unless you are certain it won’t effect your work station

and it opened a page in Edge (I use Chrome) that said I had to 'Sign in with Microsoft'. I don't have a way to do that, and I'm not going to.

In the past few weeks the updates have disabled my desktop mail and my photo viewer. I've been able to get the mail back but not my photos. I will NEVER buy a Microcrap product again.

I am considering it. BUT, will Linux provide me with a photo viewer, CD/DVD controller, and Solitaire games. The bastards took away my Solitaire games last week, which I had played thousands of times. The version they offer now is a worthless piece of garbage, presumably designed by a 10 year old. I have been all over the internet these past few days trying to find a way to get the old version back. I am furious and am now advising everyone I know to never buy a microsob product ever again.
