I am considering converting an old Win 10 HP laptop to Linux. Opinions?

It says G60 on it. It's around 10 years old. It was a Win 7 but converted to Win 10 just fine.

From what I read, it seems Zorin might be the best bet? Any other ideas? I am thinking the conversion would also wipe a lot of old data that is safe on another computer and detachable hard drive.

Go for it. I did it with an old Dell with Linux Mint. It was a Dell Dimension 8100 from 2001. TheBlackAdder Jul 2019 #3

I had no success, as the bios would not load.

When I found Linux Lite, it booted up. This distro also easily found and configured my printer driver. Give it a try if other distros fail.

.

Partition it for dual-boot. This way, you can keep yor WIN 10 system and switch back and forth until you are comfortable.

When I get around to it, I'll save any data Win data I need and turn it into just Ubuntu.
