No sound from Samsung Chromebook 3
I have no sound coming out of my Chromebook, either from the speakers or the headphone jack. I've done everything I can think of including a hard reset, PowerWash etc, and still no joy.
It's still under warranty, so hopefully I'm ok there, but does anyone have any thoughts? When I move the sound/volume slider bar, it's constantly on mute. I can move it to any volume, but when I go back to it, it's back on mute again. The volume icon, interestingly, just shows the speaker and no lines emanating from it at any volume.
Have never seen this on a Chromebook, PC, or Mac. Have called Samsung, and they say send it back to them. I'm just trying to see if there's anything left that I can still try before I mail it off for repairs.
Thank you!

(18,074 posts)Have you muted the sound in another app and it's running, unknown, in the background?

(7,715 posts)I am fiddling around with the machine now, but I can't see any apps.
On top of that, I did a full reset etc, so that should have wiped any setting issues, or so I would have thought.

(17,550 posts)I have an iPhone and could not get the sound to work. No phone ring, no text alert, nada... spent days until I remembered a little button on the side of the phone you manually toggle to turn sounds on and off. I had accidentally toggled sounds off while cleaning my phone.

(7,715 posts)Thanks to you and all others for your sage advice, but I think my Chromebook needs to be fixed. Hopefully, Samsung agrees this is a warranty repair!

(7,715 posts)I finally sent it in to Samsung's authorized repair center in NJ. They said it was liquid damage and the the warranty was consequently void. I wound up scrapping the unit and getting a nice refurbished Chromebook.
I think the water damage fried the sound chips.
