Camera function not working on my HP All-In-One desktop.

I've exhausted all the help functions available online, but am unable to get my Camera on my computer to work. It is not listed under Imaging etc. where it's supposed to be. My desktop has the camera built into the monitor. There is no on/off switch for it. It also came with a touchscreen and that function no longer works. I had used the touchscreen in the past occasionally, but I've never tried the camera function so have no idea if the problem is due to updating to Windows 10 from the Windows 7 that this computer came with.

I've read so many other people's posts online about having the camera problem, cut I've been unsuccessful in even getting my camera to show up in system programs.

If anyone has had this problem or has any suggestions I'd appreciate input.

I'm not surprised you're having problems. I've also had some problems getting the camera in a Lenovo laptop to work.

I suspect when you upgraded, the camera driver didn't upgrade with it. Hit the Windows button and then the Settings button (the one that looks like a gear). You'll go nuts finding camera settings, so just type "camera" into the settings search window, and something should show up.

I had a camera-less monitor for a while, and found one for about 20 bucks somewhere, and it works just fine. I thought I was going to need it on this laptop, but found the appropriate setting.

I removed the camera from the device manager, then went to windows update and had it search for updates. And then got the updated drivers.

I can't remover the camera because it's not even listed. The same thing happened with touchscreen. At one time it was listed and then disappeared. I even did a complete system restore (ugh) as a last resort and that didn't get the touchscreen back.

Go here and enter your serial number. It should give you information on downloads for updated drivers, compatibility etc.

I would go to the control panel and look for it there

Type "control panel" in search and then go to Device Manager and look under images or cameras.

I would look under cameras but you say it's under imaging? In windows 10 it might be under cameras, not imaging devices?

Is the driver there in the Control panel under Imaging or look under cameras as well?

You may need to update your driver for the camera.

Microsoft said it could be under either Imaging Devices or Sound, Video, etc. but it's just not there or anywhere on the computer.

I've spent an awful lot of time on this issue. I read today that Microsoft has not tested the camera function with regards to Windows 10 on my particular desktop. I am quite certain it's due to me updating my Windows 7 to Windows 10 a couple years ago because that's when I lost use of my touchscreen also.

There's also the remote possibility that the internal camera is bad.

My son is a software engineer so I usually try to get his input, but he's been busy working on the next moon landing. (He works for NASA). He hates Microsoft, so his personal devices are all Apple. I hate to bother him with computer questions and he lives in another state, but today he did email me saying I could possibly buy a desktop camera and connect it to a USB port. I probably won't spend the $$$ for that because it's not crucial that I have a camera for Zoom.
