Maybe some help appreciated, but mainly just bitching about browsers...
My primary browser is Opera and the default one for linking from email is Firefox. I also have Vivaldi and Brave installed, and the hated Edge is floating around somewhere. Truth is, I kinda like Edge now that it's a real browser. And Bing brings up a bunch of "interesting" things to play with if you're not in a hurry.
All of them now use the Chrome engine, so I don't need Chrome and more Google shit and spyware, but can use most Chrome extensions.
BUT...
Every single one of them has this horrendous habit of erasing my open tabs when I close it. Fortunately, they keep the history so I can find them again, but Vivaldi even wiped that out for a while until someone noticed. Firefox fixed the problem until the last update, and Opera just started losing stuff. Firefox has a "restore last session" button that sorta works.
In the Settings, they ask if you want to open with the last session of a new session-- every one of them I say save the old session. Opera and some of the others allow you to open a new secure/private session, and sometimes it gets confused and keeps that one instead of the one with tabs.
AAAAARRRGGGHHHH-- WHY DOESN'T THIS SHIT JUST DO WHAT YOU TELL IT TO DO???
My Motorola Android phone does the same thing-- keeps moving stuff around on the screen so I have to chase it. A couple of times it took me so long to find the phone button they hung up.
"Lock screen" must have some secret meaning.

(18,073 posts)I mainly use Firefox, kept manually updated, and a pile of obscure Add-ons to customise Tab focus, closing & opening positions and other personal irritants.
There used to be a great FF add-on called TabMixPlus that did all this and more but it stopped development and they have realeased a couple of limited add-ons which are helpful but not perfect.
You can search FF add-ons for 'Tab' and put together your own personal set of tweaks.
Edit to add: I think the term you describe is called 'Session Manager'.
