Any leads for Jr. Software Developer openings for pending graduate?
Hi
Thought I'd post here for my daughter who is graduating from Western Governors University in May. She's looking for either a paid internship (I guess some will consider a recent grad for that) or entry-level position.
Here are snippets from her LinkedIn profile:
Junior Software Engineer · Frontend Web Developer · Junior Java Developer
Emerging software developer currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science Software Development degree program. Currently gaining proficiency in Java, data science, and web development. A life-long student with a multifaceted work and education background, dedicated to achieving success.
She's a single mom, they live with me, and it would be great for her to find gainful employment as quickly as possible...lololol. She has also really gotten engaged in politics and equity and justice issues over the last few years and would, ideally, like to find a non-douchebag employer but she knows she will probably have to take what she can get at first.
Thanks for any suggestions or leads!

(12,474 posts)I would suggest that she find ways to network, I know it is hard during this time, but some professional organizations are still having virtual meetings and happy hours. Look for groups that support professional women. She should have her resume on her all the time, if she goes to the bank or anywhere she should share that she is looking. You really never know where the leads will come from.
One company I would suggest she check out is 3/SHARE, they do everything virtually until it is time to meet with the client to roll out the product, they are a young company but growing really fast. It would be perfect for a mom with kids at home.
Good luck to her!

(18,565 posts)...I suggest trying upwork.com. This site offers work that can usually be done remotely mostly on your own time.
It may be helpful in general for her to make the overall assessment of her skills to complete the profile.
Any experience gained could lead to a more standard opportunity after the virus is under control.
