this has been going on for a long time and it finally crossed my annoyance threshold. must solve!!! (also she works in corporate world and it could matter when she goes back to work)

timezone of the corporate google workspace account?

20 minutes seems pretty odd if it's a TZ issue.

but as mentioned, it is an amount of less than a full hour...that is the super weird thing.

although that thread went on for years! I found a couple of good hints and she seems to have got it fixed. setting her computer clock to auto and something in gmail itself.

The lost or gained time gains a lot after a while.

I just checked email on my phone via chrome, web based mail and it shows a mail from on the inbox list as coming in at 10:01 this morning and when I open and hit reply it shows the mail at 9:50:54.

so at least three different times on two "platforms?"

there's a glitch in whatever (probably Tbird) uses to check the time).

I've noticed some curious things with Thunderbird myself, but just never bothered to let them bother me.

Most of the time, anyway, when messages "hide" for a while, it drive me nuts. And I can't stop some of the filters from working.

Thunderbird is one of the best out there for lots of things, but it does do some silly things.

I just assumed it was the 1000s of old emails I never get around to sorting/deleting. I go on binges of deleting but never get far.

Either the sending or receiving computer has a motherboard battery that's failing. First sign of this is usually computer time goes skew-iff.
