computer can't connect to internet.FIXED IT!

Windows 10 updated last night now Settings says Ethernet connected to internet but chrome can't connect. Message says "There is something wrong with proxy server, or the address is incorrect."

This happened a few times in the past but was very short term.

FIXED IT!

Found conflicting proxy settings after the up date. Both automatic and manual proxy turned on. Turned off manual and it's fine now.

I had a Chrome update show up yesterday, I don't use it and don't even have it downloaded. I have a crappy wireless mouse and it sometimes requires that I left click to wake it up. It had come to rest where the pop up arrived and to cancel it, I had to first click to awaken the mouse which activated the download that I could not stop afterward. I immediately went offline and uninstalled it.

I wonder how it is that I got an update for an app I don't even use. I have WIN10 too but I am picky about downloads these days.

Also, I'm using Spectrum because there's nobody else in my area who doesn't require my banking info, and they sent a notice this past week informing that I needed a new modem because they have upgraded to high speed and the current one can't handle it. Perhaps your ISP is going through something similar?

My pc has done the same thing. No ethernet. Both IPv4 and IPv6 are off but I don't know how to fill in the blanks for manual setup.
Was set for automat but that is no-go.

UPDATE: Fixed.
1-Turned off computer.
2-Unplugged both modem and router (I'm hardwired to router) and waited 30 (60-just because) seconds
3-Plugged in modem and waited until all lights were up
4-Plugged in router and waited until all lights were up
5-Turned on computer
That did it, fixed.
