Mac, iPhone assistance please:

I have (had?) an Apple desktop. It was 10 yrs old, crashed and burned the other day.

I had ALL my music on there…hundreds and hundreds of songs.

I would “sync” my iPhone to the desktop and all my music would be on the iPhone.

I bought an Apple Airbook to replace the desktop.

Now, I see there is no way (here is where I am asking for help!!!) to “sync” the music on the iPhone to the Airbook.

Can anyone give advice? Most (almost all) of my CD’s are gone now.

the Cloud, so it is available on my devices. So maybe it is already in their Macbook music library once they have logged into their Apple ID

They will help you.

FWIW Apple automatically stored my CD library in the cloud, so yours may be there too.

[It could be because I am subscribed to Apple Music, I don’t know for sure]

You can go to the Music App on your airbook and make sure your logged in with your Apple ID. Then check your library in the Music App to see if your library of CD’s is there.

Also a decent tech can pull the disk drive from your failed Mac and put it in an external disk
drive enclosure, so you can plug it into your new computer and see all the files. Something
in your desktop mac failed, but it might have a working disk drive ... if you can get to it.

New mac? You have a new MacOS, and No more iTunes.

Apple basically threw away iTunes for synching phones etc. with one release of MacOS.

This should happen:
Plugging the phone cable into the new laptop will make it show up on the desktop. You will need the old USB3 to lightning cable or perhaps a USB-C to lightning cable. Easy to find.

I think that Apple will suggest this.

If you don’t want to use iCloud or other services, you can connect iPhone to your Mac or Windows PC to sync the following items:

Albums, songs, playlists, movies, TV shows, podcasts, books, and audiobooks

Photos and videos

Set up syncing between your Mac and iPhone

Connect iPhone and your computer with a cable.

In the Finder sidebar on your Mac, select your iPhone.

Note: To use the Finder to sync content, macOS 10.15 or later is required. With earlier versions of macOS, use iTunes to sync with your Mac.

This should be your case.

Alternately, they will suggest getting the premium iCloud plan and synching to it.

I suspect that both will work.

The missing piece is the backup for the computer. I buy a really cheap large disk drive for each computer, and use "Super Duper" the free version, to make an exact copy of the disk now and then. You could also use one for time machine. A Passport for Mac works right out of the box. That way, your music would be on a backup disk, and you can restore it to anything.

Good luck and keep the group posted on progress.
There are third party apps you can put on the computer that will scavenge music, pictures and documents on the phone, but I never used one, because I don't trust them.

If I mis-interpreted any of this, let me know, and I will correct it.
I almost got a new MBA or mini recently. But didn't.

Edit: the new laptop does qualify you for AppleCare.
