Why don't some images load for me?
This started a few months ago on DU. Some posts don't show images, but just the broken image icon. Other posts (like Sunday's LOLcats) show the images just fine.
What are some possible reasons? Perhaps having to do with where the images are hosted? Like, maybe I inadvertantly put a restriction in my browser (Brave) to not accept content from those URLs? Any other ideas? This is on an android phone. TIA.

Just kidding ... do you have another browser on the phone you can compare with using same URL?
At least that could narrow it down.

(13,785 posts)All my "remote" computer help was a nightmare. So many questions to ask.
If you can at least give examples that don't work for you, people can try.
That would give some clue.
There are many steps between a server and a browser, including cloudflare, which is becoming the internet, since it routes, and caches, and sometimes breaks, so much content. This being near election time, I suspect that a lot of nasty stuff is going on that we don't hear of, and cloudflare is probably trying to block it.
And sometimes, images don't load because of slowness SOMEWHERE on the vast internet.
FWIW, I have used imgbb and postimage, and have only experienced slowness.
Something about the content?
OH, and as a data point, only my i-devices will show a preview of twitter.
On all the desktops, using Firefox, only the links show.
This *has* to be due to one of the countless trash-blockers I use.

FWIW.
Haven't had a missing image all day (phone, ipad, couple of macs running firefox)
Avatars are often sometimes slow to load or take forever ...

The first (and presumably others) are a postimg.cc (postimage.org)

(49,445 posts)...is that your browser can block stuff that comes from a non-encrypted website.
I have my own website that I use for hosting pictures (got tired of Photobucket years ago), but the site doesn't have "https" in the URL, so the some of the pics I post will appear as broken links in the context of a DU page. But if you right-click and open the pic in its own tab, it works fine.
I think you have to add an exception in your browser (I use Firefox) to show non-https content.
Alternately, you broswer security settings may be cranked so high that it's blocking content from outside the main site you're trying to visit.
