How to get Firefox to spellcheck the subject line
http://4paisa.blogspot.com/2008/02/firefox-spell-check-single-line-text.htmlFirefox comes with spell checker which checks for spelling errors in the multi line text boxes. You can make Firefox to spell check single line text boxes also like email subject lines, etc by changing config entry.
Type about:config in a new tab, then go to the key layout.spellcheckDefault. It's value is 1 by default, which means spell check multi line text boxes only.
0 - Disable Spell check.
1 - Check multi line text boxes only.
2 - Check all text boxes, including single line text boxes.
Change the key value to 2. No more spelling errors in the email subject lines.
Yay!

(18,569 posts)I was thinking maybe a titled 'helps and hints' with the posts of 'helps and hints' in it but I should have been more clear.
It's a good thing I don't write for a living... oh wait... I do.

(47,675 posts)You write for a living? Well, I can see that.

(18,569 posts)...but thanks to the topic compelling my ill fated thoughts leading to these thoughts at least "caffeinated" is spelled correctly.
Well HH, let me spellit-outforya:
1- write a post titled "Helps and Hints"
2- add some blather in the message text to encourage other to reply to it adding their "Helps and Hints"
3- pin that sucker
PS - I read Dilbert and you may, some day, fly in something I worked on.

(21,048 posts)and a HUGE error just popped up saying the site has been blocked ...
Malicious it said.

(49,445 posts)Hmph. Well, I just clicked on it again, and nothing popped up from Norton or Firefox.
Well, it works, even if the site is squirrelly.
CountAllVotes
(21,048 posts)It would only check the subject/reply line but it would not do a spell check in the text box even though it show that the word "squirrelly", is misspelled.
I'd rather have it check in the text box and correct it than the subject/reply area.
Who knows the reality of this? I did not get the message when I tried it again btw. ????

Hit about:config and a window popped up in BOLD, warning me I could invalidate my warranty.
Ha! No trepidation for me...we have home built puters....and Linux at that!
So made the change, and it works.
