DuckDuckGo has a new browser and I am impressed!
I had their browser on my mobile phone but I could only use their search engine on my DT/laptop.
Check it out because you can watch youtube videos and it gets rid of the targeted ads:

The very impressive list of privacy features are at: https://duckduckgo.com/
Scroll down a bit and it explains each one.
It also imports your bookmarks and passwords!

(70 posts)and here are my thoughts:
on the down side:
* it's missing "open in new window" for multiple bookmarks. it's a feature in brave and chrome
* it. is. very. slow. slower than a one legged dead rat when loading stuff. i've got a fairly beefy system (although it is a few years old). 64G of system memory, and a pretty decent i7 processor (again, a few years old) and a hardwired internet connection (no wifi).
* from what i see, it is using m$ edge as its engine. looking at the process tree in Process Explorer, i see 12 msedgewebview2 tasks spin up. i kinda wish they'd built it on top of firefox.
* it bypasses a lot of security and firewall stuff. example: i use "freedom" to reduce distractions during work hours, including sites like DU. ddg allows me to get to them.
the good:
* significant reduction in the number of ads, including ones in yt videos (something you commented on)
i'm still kind of on the fence about it. to gain popularity, it will need to work on its speed.

(19,872 posts)I cant get this site so I logged into d d go..otherwise I would not be here..Im also exploring other features but what I like is..I can always delete my searches and passwords. I was wondering why if I asked Google a question..the next thing I knew was all these ads about my search. I fully understand there is NO privacy anymore but any little bit I can do to make my email box less active with spam..the better
Im very Leary of putting my experience out here as I signed on to not promote any corporate sites or anything of that nature so please know that Im not, in all good faith, promoting anything. Im just so glad I tried so many different ways to get logged on here that I stumbled on to a new

first, it is mind boggling how many tracking attempts they block. And the sites that track you! You'd never guess. Surprisingly Microsoft sites and google.com had no trackers. Others had many.
Second I had a problem with a few passwords, but it was easy to resolve. The problems were that a few old passwords were in my passwords file, so I had to get rid of them. Since they were incorrect, they would have caused problems on my other browser, too.
FYI, to fix any password issues on saved passwords to websites, go to DuckDuckGo's "autofill" section.
